and the students had a great time!
the idea for teaching them using ultimate Frisbee was mooted here and then :)
and today is our first session with the Wayfarers in GMSP of using Ultimate Frisbee to teach values!
the skill for the session - basic backhand pass
the value for the day - being connected with each, help us to work better together
we started with a short time of worship and prayer. this settled down the 20+ students between 9-12 for the briefing for this new program.
house rules for the program
1. be punctual
2. bring water bottle
3. wear wayfarer tee
if not, leave the session
if acted up or generally inconsiderate to others etc, will be ban from game at the end of session.
playing and training is a privilege, so we don't punish by giving more training but rather withholding of opportunity of play.
after all these housekeeping stuff...
play on!

warm up the whole body; head, arms, chest, legs and even toes!drills; lined up in lines to throw the disc to each other.
this is when the fun begin...
we had a mini competition of how many times the disc will be successfully thrown and caught, and the best team had 28! they were heads above the rest with 10 being the runners up best effort.
the students are reminded that they are to pass short and accurate, for their team mates to catch. without their team mates catching it, they can not continue to play or make any attempt to win.
so be connected with each, passing short is the key at this stage when you don't have the strength and skill to pass far.
some are stronger and more athletic than the others, can throw and catch better.. but there are others...
but still good to have everyone playing within their own ability.
we ended the session with 5 on 5 games between all the students.
it was a rolling good time but they still need to learn to PASS!
serve each other... pass short and accurate!
do likewise at home, in class and among friends, with the small things ... and will translate to other areas...
play on!
